Eldik Bank Strengthens Support for Women's Entrepreneurship in Kyrgyzstan's Regions

June 18 is Rural Women's Day in Kyrgyzstan, dedicated to the birthday of the outstanding agricultural worker and political figure of the Kyrgyz Republic Zuurakan Kainazarova. The date is dedicated to recognizing the contribution of women living in rural areas to the development of the country, as well as drawing attention to their problems.

On this day, Eldik Bank emphasizes its commitment to expanding economic opportunities for women in rural areas and continues to actively implement programs that promote the development of women's entrepreneurship.

One of these initiatives was the “Ishker-Ayim” credit product, which offers women access to preferential financing in various areas.

Thanks to the program, dozens of women were able to open or expand their businesses in the areas of animal husbandry, transportation, construction, procurement, trade, production and others. Since the launch of the product, the largest number of loans have been issued in the regions - Nooken, Jalal-Abad, Razzakov, Kerben, which indicates a high demand for financial support from women and their willingness to develop their own business.

In order to further expand women’s access to financial resources, Eldik Bank, together with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, has developed a new product – “Development of Women’s Entrepreneurship”, aimed at sustainable support of business initiatives of women from the regions.

- The development of women's entrepreneurship in the regions is not only a question of equality, but also an important factor in sustainable economic growth. By supporting women, we support entire families, communities and the future of the country, - notes Chairman of the Board of Eldik Bank OJSC Ulanbek Nogayev. - We truly believe that empowering women economically is key to developing sustainable economies, thriving communities and building a fairer future for all. That is why our Bank is committed to continuing to implement initiatives aimed at financial inclusion, developing women's entrepreneurship and creating new jobs across the country.

For reference. The UN Development Programme notes that reducing the gender gap in labor force participation by 2030 could increase global GDP by 3.6% and reduce extreme poverty by 0.5%. According to CABAR.asia In Kyrgyzstan, despite the significant number of women entrepreneurs, their share among the total number of entrepreneurs is only 30%.
