Eldik Bank and UN Women Sign Memorandum of Understanding
Eldik Bank Open Joint Stock Company and UN Women in the Kyrgyz Republic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at establishing a strategic partnership to promote women's economic empowerment in the Kyrgyz Republic.
This is the first such agreement between UN Women and a representative of the banking sector of Kyrgyzstan, and it became possible due to the active position of Eldik Bank as one of the leading and most sustainable financial institutions in the country. The signing of the memorandum emphasizes the importance of the bank as a reliable partner in the implementation of initiatives aimed at gender equality and sustainable development.
The Memorandum outlines joint efforts to expand women’s access to financial resources, support women’s entrepreneurship, develop inclusive financial products, and foster sustainable business initiatives. It also opens new opportunities to advance the principles of sustainable development, social responsibility, and equality.
“It is a great honor for us to be part of this important partnership. We share the values of UN Women and are committed to ensuring that every woman has equal opportunities for economic growth, acquiring knowledge, and realizing her entrepreneurial potential,” said Aychurek Zhakypova, Deputy Chairperson of the Management Board of Eldik Bank, during the signing.
“Our collaboration with Eldik Bank reflects a shared commitment to building economic justice — a society in which every woman in Kyrgyzstan has equal access to financial tools, opportunities to develop her own business, make meaningful contributions to the country’s economy, and realize her leadership potential. By joining forces, we are taking concrete steps toward building an inclusive economy where no woman is left behind,” noted UN Women Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic, Syed Sadiq.
It is worth noting that Eldik Bank implements a number of preferential loan products aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs. These programs help launch and develop small and medium-sized enterprises, expand women's economic opportunities in the regions, and create new jobs.
